Stratasys Contest Emergent Automated Manufacturing Winner

"Emergent Automated Manufacturing" by Connor Nicholas, Savannah College of Art & Design was the first place winner in the Art & Architecture category

Stratasys have announced the winners of their  2013 Extreme Redesign Contest which was a global contest for students to submit an innovative product design, a redesign of an existing product or an original work of art or architecture. For the 9th annual contest, each of the finalists received a 3D printed model of their submission and there were several cash scholarships on offer for the winners.

The top three student winners were awarded $2,500 or $1,000 scholarships, provided by Stratasys, in each of the categories of College Engineering, Art and Architecture, and Middle and High School Engineering.

Each of the College Engineering entrants were also judged to see if their design had the potential for a licensing agreement and commercialization by a manufacturer. This prize was judged by Edison Nation, the online inventor community that produces the TV show, Everyday Edisons. One design, Crawler 2.0 from Andrews University Michigan, was judged to have strong potential for submission to the licensing search process. Edison Nation will help the team of Andrew Roderick and Brian Booth on the things they should pursue for to commercialize their invention.
