Objet 3D Prints a Working Keyboard in One Print Job

| 3D Printers, Consumer Electronics, Objet | March 6, 2013

Objet’s multi-material 3D printers are at the forefront of 3D printing technology and allow complex objects to be produced using several materials in a single print. Another useful aspect to the Objet printers is that they can print fully working models like this mini-keyboard.

Sam Green from the Stratasys blog demonstrates several keyboards that have been 3D printed in a single print run. Unlike current manufactured keywords these 3D printed ones do not need to be assembled.

The keyboards were printed in a plastic material, used in the keys and casing, and a rubber material that provides the cushioning for the individual keys.
These keyboards don’t actually function as they don’t have the necessary electronics to connect them to a computer, but they are a demonstration of how multi-material 3D printers can reduce the number of parts in the manufacture of complex objects.
