Arduino experts Adafruit and 3D printer pioneers MakerBot have teamed up to offer a limited edition model of the Replicator 2 printer.
The Arduino is a popular small programmable microcontroller that’s incredibly versatile and can be used in electronics projects such as robotics, scientific equipment and remote flying drones.
MakerBot are a great match for Adafruit as by their very nature electronics projects like this need to have a lot of parts made for them. And we know that 3D printers are great for making custom parts easily and cheaply.
“Adafruit is thrilled to be able to partner with MakerBot and 3D printing with this Limited Edition offering,” said Limor “Ladyada” Fried, Adafruit Industries founder. “We were one of the first early adopters of 3D printing and it’s exciting to now be able to partner with a growing company like MakerBot and provide both of our customers a product they can explore, build, print, and have fun with.”
This new Limited Edition MakerBot Replicator 2 3D printer comes with three of the most popular Adafruit kits – the Timesquare DIY Watch Kit, the MintyBoost Kit, and Adafruit’s most popular Raspberry Pi - and a custom build plate. The Replicator 2 can be used to create all of the custom parts that don’t actually come with the kits, such as the Timesquare watch band or a case for the Raspberry Pi computer.
The kit will be available online at adafruit.com and a the New York City MakerBot store, for $2,296.00
