3D Systems has expanded into the jewelry market with a new deal announced last week. They are joining forces with Turkish jewelry solutions company Al-mera which will allow both companies to provide 3D printing solutions.
Jewelry manufacturing using 3D printers is an area that is seeing a rapid expansion and is an industry that can benefit form the technology. 3D printed patterns used in the casting process can be used to improve accuracy of the detail within the cast jewelry pieces.
“This agreement allows us to cover the rapidly growing jewelry marketplace with a knowledgeable reseller and offer state of the art technology to automate the time honored casting processes of jewelry manufacturing across the region.”, said Michele Marchesan, VP and GM of 3D printers for 3D Systems.
3D Systems has provided ProJet 3510 CPX and CPXPlus 3D printers to Al-mera which offer a high definition 20 micro high resolution print option. The RealWax patterns, used during jewelry casting, produced by the CPX printers offer a smooth surface quality and fine detail.
