Shapeways is a 3D printing startup founded in 2007 by several Phillips Electronics employees and allows users to upload their designs that are then printed in a variety of materials. On October 19th they opened their new 3D printing factory in Long Island City New York with future plans to house 50 printers for their clients manufacturing needs.

Once your item has been made on their 3D printers you can also sell it on Shapeways.com in their marketplace. All sorts of things are sold there including iPod cases, figurines and lots more.

Shapeways say they will ship hundreds of 3D-printed items per day and customers’ designs can be made in a variety of materials including plastics, nylon and stainless steel. For a gallery tour of the facility check out Mashable.com
